16.13 Carats Rubellite Tourmaline & Diamond Ring for $17,500
A 16.13 carat purplish-red tourmaline mounted in platinum ring and flanked on either side by a trillion-cut diamond. The gorgeous purple-red rubellite ring was auctioned this June, 15 2010 at Christie's, New York.
The origin and treatment of the stone is unknown.
Rubellite tourmaline from Nigeria in the gem market is not found to have treatment. Since the original roughs often found clean and in very fine colors. However, Brazil rubellite tourmaline may be gone through some treatment process.
